Robotic Booze Generating Dress

Meet DareDroid: sexy nurse, geek couture and mobile bartender, engineered into an all-in-one technologically advanced garment. Created by fashion designer Anouk Wipprecht, hacker Marius Kintel, and sculptor Jane Tingley, the team calls themselves the Modern Nomads (MoNo), and their series of garments fall into Wipprecht's invented family of "Pseudomorphs". Pseudomorphs are  tech-couture pieces that transform into fluid displays—which is exactly what DareDroid does.

Cocktail Couture: Robotic Booze Generating Dress

DareDroid is a biomechanic hybrid cocktail robot dress that combines pneumatic technology with open-source hardware and human temperament to provide the person wearing the dress with freshly mixed White Russian cocktails. The seemingly sophisticated system is capable of detecting "responsiveness" (re: drunken lowered inhibitions), creating a complicated game of doling out cocktails based on whether engaged viewers enter the model's personal space.

Here's how it works:

"The dress will respond to people based on proximity using the rules of proxemics introduced by Edward T. Hall in 1966, which measures the distance between intimate space (0 to 18 inches or 0 to 46 cm) and personal space (1.5 to 4 feet or 46 to 120 cm). We have used these distances to create rules that define interaction, so if the viewer enters the model's intimate space, the technological system will shut down preventing any liquid from being dispensed.

However, if the viewer remains within the personal space, or at a respectful distance s/he will activate the dispensation of a non-alcohol containing liquid (cranberry juice etc...). Once the liquid has been put into the cup, the viewer is then invited to a touch phone based game of Truth or Dare. If the participant completes the game, the model will then choose to add the alcohol into the drink. If the player refuses to play the game, then she will be given just the juice."
